North Cascades National Park

Huge wilderness of mountains, glaciers & ancient forest, undeveloped but for backpacking trails. How awesome North Cascades National Park is? Without further ado! Here are the lists!

Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is one of the most visited forests in the country. Located on the west side of the Cascades between the Canadian border and Mt. Rainier National Park, you will find glacier-covered peaks, spectacular mountain meadows and old-growth forests rich in history and outdoor opportunities. (source info)

(img src)

Maple Pass

Let’s see how awesome review it got!

“This is one of the grandest scenes in the North Cascades that is not difficult to get to. Make a loop out of it by first going to Ann Lake, then Heather Pass to see massive Black Peak, then up to the incomparable views of Maple Pass. Head over to Frisco Mtn and come down a steeper trail with other views including Rainy Lake. Because access is so easy it gets popular on summer weekends. But the higher you go, the fewer the people” – Google reviewer

You will surely enjoy your every seconds here!

(img src)

Desolation Peak

Curious from the name itself?

Well the place definitely does not mean emptiness or destruction!

Here let’s read a review to prove how awesome this place is!

“The hike up is not easy, but the views are amazing on a clear day!  There is a camp site about 1 mile below the fire watch tower, but very primitive.  If boating in to the trailhead, there is a dock when the lake level is high enough.  If you are going in late Fall, the water may be too low to use the dock.  Non-boaters can access the Desolation trailhead via East Bank Trail.”

(img src)

Black Peak

The name provide danger and pleasure! Black Peak is a highly eroded stratovolcano comprising a lava dome complex on the Alaska Peninsula of the U.S. state of Alaska. Also called Black Volcano. But for hard hiking, this is a good place to practice!

Here let’s read a review!

“Brutal hike and the trail was in existent in some places. Had to follow stacked rocks from time to time. No visibility at times due to clouds. But I like a difficult and unique hike. The view once you get there is amazing.”

(img src)

Ross Lake

Ross Lake is a large reservoir in the North Cascade mountains of northern Washington state, United States, and southwestern British Columbia, Canada.

One of the reviews says, “One of the most beautiful places on Earth. Had some of the best times of my life on this lake and in those mountains.” – Google Reviewer

Cades Cove

This place was amazing. It’s a tour of the mountains, you can drive through and see the wildlife or you can walk through some of the trails! It’s very beautiful scenery with great photo opportunities and nice trails to hike. Indeed a great place to take the family!

Just like Cligmans Dome, the view of the surrounding mountain is breath taking.

Park here is very large with numerous areas to stop and walk through. Such a beautiful piece of earth!

(img src)

Oconaluftee

This is a place of great visitor center with a very nice gift store. They got an interesting outbuildings depicting life on a farm in the 1800s. Great place to bring kids!

Surely a great place to stop and stretch your legs after crossing over the mountain.  The staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area.

What’s the best is that you can see an old homestead and go on a trail next to a cool river. All is free and dogs are able to go in most places!

(img src)

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

One of the most impressive Aquariums you’ll ever been too soon! Walking under the glass shark tank is amazing. Seeing the displays of the different types of sea creatures really makes you realize first-hand that the ocean is a whole world onto itself! Put a visit to the Aquarium on your to do list when you visit The Smokies!

The aquarium is undeniably amazing, lots of great information, beautiful displays and wide variety of animals. Definitely it is a neat place with fish!

Best hikes in Glacier National Park

Glacier National park in Montana, is more than 700 miles of trails in a vast park with diverse landscapes & abundant wildlife.

Peak travel is summer (Jun–Sep), when the weather’s characterized by warm, sunny days and mild-to-cool nights. Native America Speaks (Jun–Sep) is a series of summer talks given by Native tribal members. Nov–Mar is cold with frequent heavy snow. Overnight temperatures become extremely cold Dec–Feb. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular at this time. (inf src)

Without further ado! Here are the Best hikes in Glacier National Park!

Highline Trail

It is a popular hiking trail with phenomenal views. The heights are not as scary as you thought when you arrive here. Let’s take a good look with these simple yet adventurous reviews!

“Awesome Hike (The heights aren’t as scary as they look): One of my favorite hikes I did on my trip! It is a longer hike so go early and bring lots of food and water. The parking lot fills up REALLY fast. We had to drive around for 20 minutes until a nice family leaving gave us their spot. The heights aren’t too bad even though they look it in the pictures. Most of the trail isn’t that anyway. We saw bighorn sheep, deer, marmots and more. Highly recommend.”

“Awesome Hiking Trail!: Hiked this gradual incline trail (1,100 ft) to Haystack Butte. Gorgeous views in every direction! The trail begins near some narrow cliff ledges (with bars to hold on to), then opening out to flowering meadows, scrubby bushes and pine trees. We even saw a herd of White Mountain Goats (20+) grazing in a rocky chute! At the end of our hike, we saw a herd of Big Horn Sheep! This is a great wildlife viewing hike!”

Hidden Lake

Hidden Lake Apartments is truly a hidden treasure. If you think the surroundings are lavish, feast your eyes upon the most enormous apartment homes you`re likely ever to see. (inf src)

“Superb lake to see from the visitor center of Logan Pass. The trailhead, very fitted, can make reluctant those looking for large spaces. Especially there is a lot of people, on the first part. By cons when the descent, undeveloped, is committed to the lake, much of the public has already turned around. The lake has remained very wild as long as one moves away from the north shore. By following the west bank to the south of the lake, we met very few people and observed a beautiful deer olaphe, and a black bear. extraordinary colors in the late afternoon, and swimming in the lake. Water is of course a bit “cold”.”- verified review

(img src)

Swiftcurrent Lake

The trailhead is a short distance after the turn for Many Glacier Hotel, if you miss the first turn the take the next one.

In addition to being one of the most scenic and easy trails in Glacier Park the Swiftcurrent Lake Trail also has the unique distinction of a wonderfully scenic fireplace overlooking the lake in the Many Glacier Hotel. Do not hike this trail without treating yourself to beauty of this Swiss Chalet Style lobby guilt nearly one hundred years ago by the Great Northern Railroad. (inf src)

“A beautiful clear blue lake that reflects the distant mountains perfectly – especially at dawn. The Many Glacier hotel is right on the shoreline and looks out over this gem. Many of the hikes leave from this area as well.” – verified review

(img src)

Iceberg Lake

Iceberg Lake is located in Glacier National Park, in the U. S. state of Montana. Mount Wilbur is south and Iceberg Peak is west of Iceberg Lake. Iceberg Peak towers more than 3,000 feet (910 m) above the lake.  A popular day hike destination, Iceberg Lake is a 4.8 miles (7.7 km) hike from the Swiftcurrent Auto Camp Historic District. (inf scr)

“Was at Iceberg Lake in early June. Very few people provided a special experience. The upper trail was frozen and snowed over. Spent our lunch watching a family of mountain goats walk the ridge above us.” – verified review

“I live down at 450 ft MSL and this hike starts at around 5,000 MSL and climbs slowly to just over 6,000 ft over a distance of about 5 miles to the lake. I found it a bit tiring due to it being high altitude for me and I had only been in the area for two days and was not yet acclimatized. In my opinion however, it was well worth it. I went with a few friends and, once we got to the lake, we spent nearly two hours there enjoying the stunning scenery. We visited just after the summer holidays a few weeks ago (2017) and there were not many people there which made it even better. The beauty was spectacular as well as a number of views along the way.”- verified review

Granite Park Chalet

Granite Park Chalet was built in 1914 and 1915 by the Great Northern Railway to provide comfortable back country accommodations inside Glacier National Park. It was the last of the chalets built by the railroad and one of the only two back country chalets that have survived. Today this rustic lodge is listed as a National Historic Landmark and it continues to provide comfortable lodging to adventurers and visitors in the Glacier National Park wilderness. (inf src)

“After a long hike, it was a pleasure to have this top along the way. Pit toilets were a nice commodity, and a cute shop with snack and drinks with an amazing view. We didn’t spend the night here, but I can imagine that it would be amazing.” –verified review

“It’s a bit of a hike to the chalet but the views along the way are totally worth it! Snacks are kinda pricey so best to bring your own, but other than that it’s a great spot to break up a hike and relax in the inside which was nice and cool with very friendly staff.” verified review

“Location of the property was along the amazing path that runs from Kihei to Wailea. Modern, Minimalist, elegant aesthetic with tiered pool terraces. Separate adult pool for those who want it quieter but we were there on Spring break and it was very chill. Especially compared to the zoo of the Grand Wailea. We had a partial ocean view and a mountain view room for the kids, if views are your thing, spend the money as these were what they are described as. Beds are comfy, they give complimentary soda, guava juice, cookies and chips. Morimoto is on property too. Sunrise and Sunset Yoga were great inclusions.” (inf src)

We had dinner at La Mer restaurant at the hotel. Top class Michelin star chef. Love the top class silver cutlery although the glassware a bit disappointing. There’s always time for a glass of wine. For workaholic people, coffee every morning is their best friend BUT let’s not forget that a glass of wine or two every night makes every hard work paid off!

How would you feel if you are surrounded by the luxurious look of a grapevine, ready to be picked and brewed for a nice bottle of wine?! And much more for a perfectly fermented ones!

Napa Valley reigns as the land of grand estates, expansive tasting rooms, quaint towns, and elegant lodgings, many of which edge up to the celebrated Silverado Trail. Roughly an hour’s drive north of San Francisco and boasting more than 400 wineries, Napa Valley is a connoisseur’s paradise, inviting visitors to explore beyond the region’s signature Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Don’t miss, for instance, the rediscovered Merlot, whose plush texture and earthy cherry flavor are appealing to a new generation of red wine fans.

Long considered California’s most famous wine region, Napa Valley exploded into the global spotlight following the 1976 Judgment of Paris, when a Chateau Montelena Chardonnay from Calistoga trounced nine other Chardonnays in a blind tasting in Paris, including extremely prestigious bottles from France. At the time, France was considered the world’s forerunning wine region, but this triumph forever changed the international perception of Northern California’s wines.(inf src)

Snack-in at Oakville Grocery!

“An integral part of Napa Valley history since 1881, Oakville Grocery remains a gathering place for friends to share the best in handcrafted, locally sourced food and wine and to experience what makes Napa and Sonoma Counties so special. As the longest continually operating grocery store in California, it was the general store that served the visionary pioneers who first planted grapes in the valley. We want to honor that rich past while looking forward to present the very best in casual handcrafted food – food that is representative of today’s thriving Napa and Sonoma County’s gourmet artisan food community.”Oakville Grocery

“Oakville Grocery is a great gourmet grocery market right on the plaza in Healdsburg. Their sandwiches are really good and their menu, while not huge, is really good. They have nice, patio-style, seating, and a nice view of the plaza. Oakville has great service, and usually long lines.
An awesome fun stop with the best sandwiches! Indulge with lots of cheese samples and of course, wines!
Totally an interesting place to visit!”– google reviews
